Since I know there are a lot of big Rolex 6538 Big Crown fans among you, I wanted to share some pictures of the 6538 GILT Hands that I've been working on for almost 3 years now. They come with Big Lollipop Seconds and are for sale in two different Lume Colors and for three different Movements. That's a shame - would be a great time to still own a gen 6538. The plan is to get the best gilt dial I can find (and have that underway now), a gen bezel, crownartcustoms insert, gen crown and tube, and ideally a 1030 movement as I can get one for a reasonable price. doing this build with a gen 1030 is straightforward. getting a good dial and hands is the hardest part, but i guess maybe that's obvious. get a ruby case (identical to the case you posted the ebay link to, but i think her pricing is better). get a crown and tube from athaya.

Here’s a list of parts used. Here lately I have been trying to restore an old Rolex Submariner 6538 that is pretty junked, aside from the movement. The case is in terrible condition and requires replacement, my question is if there is an affordable way to go about sourcing a case. The 6538 references prior to 1956 also had the caliber 1030 movement, but without the chronometer certification. Of course, Rolex needed to express this certification and did so on the dial with the famous two additional lines of text: Officially Certified, Chronometer. If you want an interesting, intact watch that might be had in a less than pristine state - conside the large case Tudor Ranger model with the ETA movement. This is a very classy watch that any aficinado will appreciate irrespective of its modest means.
