Most (all?) kinetic and AGS watches that I've seen have their charging coil mounted pointing north-to-south around the 9 o'clock area in which case sitting them upright in the candle holder should be most efficient, as in the photo below. It works by placing the watch face down with the crown lined up with the first 2 figures of the movement number printed on top of the unit.
